@trpeal You're right, it is, but in this case I need the rhythm of the succinct two syllable phrase.
In the scene, one character is chirpily saying "hello!" (this character has no right to be doing this) and the other character immediately retorts "Eff you." It's a bang-bang rhythm thing I'm aiming for.
... It's amazing how much the correct cadence and rhythm plays into writing dialogue, honestly.
