Elkin Valley Baptist Church in North Carolina lost nearly $800,000 to an e-mail scam

The Lord giveth
The Lord taketh away

Interesting how they had $800K to give away so frivolously. Helping the poor must be lucrative!

@flexghost It's the Southern Baptist mega church grift, they apparently have the dough.
They really are in the middle of nowhere, but maybe it's that old tobacco money.
I'm about 3.5 hours to the east in Raleigh, those damn things are on every corner, and if it's not a huge church it's a primitive holiness church.
@kflanagan shouldn’t their mega church pastor be out with a male prostitute doing meth and who knows what else…?
@flexghost proof that evangelicals are the easiest people to scam.
@courtjezter too bad they want to kill education in this country, maybe a little education would help them out?
@flexghost If you educate people they figure out most of the Bible plagiarized from other mythology. Not to mention all the bullshit added by either Constantine or Charlemagne.
@courtjezter Mithra has entered the chat
@flexghost had to look that one up, extremely valid. Also goes into how much I’ve inadvertently learned playing Final Fantasy. Mithras being cat people which would lean into Set from Egyptian mythology as well.

@flexghost
Baptist churches tend to be rolling in it, but never seem to be able to pay their bills. I'd be interested to know if this one has helped bankrupt small businesses, which has happened to business owners I've known for 35 years. I've seen the invoices and bankruptcy.

One business owner said churches and deacons told him to see it as giving to God.

@flexghost man we need to tax those churches.
