TProphetNever agree to the first insurance settlement. Use the appeal process and ask for more money. It costs you a few minutes and a stamp, and an extra check usually shows up.

Jesse Vincent@tprophet the last time I tried that was when some jerk totaled our parked car. The initial offer came in $10,000 low. I sent them some comps I found. They came back with a settlement $10,000 higher. when I asked if it had been the comps that changed their mind, they said that no, It was just a goodwill adjustment.
@jesse I don't care how they account for it as long as money is leaving their bank account and going into mine.
@tprophet I care a little bit. that they were willing to make the change just because I was dissatisfied did generate actual goodwill. it made me willing to use Progressive again on the new car.
