After seeing the two videos I am at a loss of words & my heart is filled with sadness & rage. There’s a systemic problem here. A routine traffic stop should never end in a civilian’s death. #TyreNicholls #blackmastodon #police #policebrutality #blacklivesmatter #blackmen #lynching #beating #systemicproblems #policeviolence #BlackFedi #blackfediverse #humanity
@MinAdrianne This could of been me or any person of color. If millions of dollars can be sent to help support Ukraine then we should be granted the same resources in America.
@Uneek I agree. This could have been my husband, brothers, nephews, or cousins. Last night I went to pick up food after seeing the video & 7 police came in to eat. I was the only POC in there & for a few minutes I felt uneasy. All I was doing was waiting on my food. One officer was about to lose his wallet in his pocket. I stopped him to tell him and his initial response was aggressive. Once he realized I what I said thank you. Aggression seems to be their first response.
@MinAdrianne Wow! So much hostility was directed towards you & you did nothing wrong. This is not normal. I honestly felt that change would take place during the George Floyd case when it was presented to the media & Congress did not budge at all. Some many people tuned in just to watch Tyre Nicholas get brutalized while the police came up with several excuses to justify their actions. We do not deserve this ! No person showed be mistreated like this.
@Uneek I agree. And until POC, especially our men are not seen as savages, or threats, things won’t change. Driving while Black IS real. I got pulled over twice & didn’t break the law. One cop questioned how I could afford my car. The second cop pulled me over in front of my house because he didn’t believe I lived in that predominantly white neighborhood. He looked foolish when he saw my address on my DL matched the house.
