Anyone in my network who has ever experienced #unemployment for 6+ months and willing to chat? I could use some encouragement or camaraderie! (And if there are any #frontend engineers looking for work right now, maybe some accountability buddy type of encouragement would be helpful, too!)

I’ve been working on things, but mostly solo, and really miss being with a team. 😅

@jessabean I’m always here to help to the best of my modest ability!
@jessabean I've definitely been there. Happy to chat if I can help

@jessabean @beep 2003 I wasn’t ‘working’ for a bit but therefore had the time to create an interesting CSS Zen Garden. Turn the down time into the time you create your best work. It transformed my outlook on what we now call design engineering.

A demonstration of what can be accomplished visually through CSS-based design.

@jessabean Have been there and it sucks and I’m so sorry. Good on you for posting this. You’re strong to have posted it to the community.

Am luckily employed right now, but would be happy to cowork (for any definition of work) over zoom today if that’d be helpful! Silent or chatty; am good either way. LMK!

@charliepark thank you so much for the encouraging words. I can’t do coworking today but would love to try this sometime soon!

@jessabean Been there, and also had months of 1, 3, 5 month stints at places where I *thought* was my "final" destination. The best two things I can say as encouragement is:

1. Nothing is forever
2. It is 99.99999% not about you (as in, not your fault)
3. Keep breathing, try to view it as the calm before the storm.
4. I can't count.

Hang in there! I hope you're able to find fun things to work on or do that otherwise with a full-time work focus you would not do.
