Your Face is Your Boarding Pass

I strongly believe that no matter how repugnant a technology might sound at first blush, I need to try it out myself before forming a firm opinion. Wh...

@rahul “…first converted into a digital template that extracts a set of unique data points and stores it in a specified format”

Isn’t this cause for (additional) concern, especially if it leaks from the airport’s/government’s systems?

@nitin There isn’t much else you can do with that template other than use it at a check in kiosk. It’s not as if you can generate an image of your face from that data. It’s a one-way transformation of FRT information into a digital information that will allow you entry.
@rahul Okay. So there needs to be technical and legal measures to prevent that face-signature from being used for other applications.
@nitin Correct. I believe the technical measures are in place - this is a closed loop system and data is purged every 24 hours - but over arching legal restrictions will ensure that no one changes the current system to allow it to leak. Though the only people who can change it is MoCA that has a vanishingly slim reason to do so. Given that it can only be used for authentication.
