It's a #Turtles life on the C&O Canal Towpath

CruisingTheCut

Cruising The Cut is about the historic canals of Britain. I (David Johns) quit my job in 2015, sold my house and went to live on a narrowboat. Initially videos of my travels, I now document various aspects of canal life. Chesapeake and Ohio Canal - Wikipedia

@Photoist I read it. life was tough - especially 4 the women - as usual. My God.
Excerpt: "Women attended 2 household chores, steered boats & gave birth on the boats, although if possible, a midwife would be secured if they were near a town. After birth, the journey would resume, with the man handling the chores including cooking. Often if the husband died, the widow would continue managing & operating the boat. 1 mother had 14 children, all born on boats, & never had a physician attending."
