Oregon Animal LoverRed Delicious are my favorites! Maybe their quality is better here in NW Oregon, because we have so many orchards nearby. They are also the cheapest.

L4UREN@lolennui I’ve come to love Empire apples because they are crisp and sweet. I recently learned they are a combo of Red Delicious and Macintosh - my two most vehemently hated apple varieties! I remain shocked by this news.

Matthew Sparby@lolennui I had an argument with a friend in India about American fruit. They insisted that fruit in the US was bland/flavorless. The example they gave was apples. Now, I'm from Minnesota and we take pride in the delicious varieties developed here. It took a bit of discussion before I found out that the apples they tried were the ones at their hotel which means it was a Red Delicious that was purchased for its decorative qualities, not flavor.
Red Delicious Apples are strictly ornamental. DO NOT EAT THE DECOR!
