There are over 700 applications for the open positions at Mastodon. Thankfully we're now joined by @inganomads to help us with the hiring process. And Claire is now full-time!

The only reason we're able to hire more folks is because of your support. Mastodon is a non-profit supported entirely by crowdfunding. If you like what we're doing or the servers we provide, consider supporting us on Patreon:

@Gargron

It doesn't allow for donations over $40/month.

The high levels are "sold out", and the custom button at the bottom doesn't allow you to set anything.

@Gargron is it possible to make a tax deductible (in the US) donation?
@davbeck @Gargron It's a Fediverse. You can probably find a US instance to donate to... they are all volunteer-run and have good use for the money. I tried to donate to my German instance, and when that failed (international banking being a hit-and-miss thing, even inside the EU) I donated to a Finnish (i.e., domestic) instance instead.
@Gargron @siracusa say hello to your newest silver sponsor. Keep up the great work!

Please consider a shout for us small instances too 🤣

You know, “Support the servers you’re on. They do it out of love…” Stuff like that.

@Gargron mastodon is in great hands!! i'm a communication specialist and would love to be considered when a communication team is being set up
@Gargron I will. And this reminds me of the Log4j guys and how big companies doing huge business only remembered them when there was a problem. Now is the opportunity for those who do business with Mastodon, especially charging subscriptions like Ivory, to give more meaning to what users pay by contributing to those who really feed them.
@Gargron have you considered an £8 a month option that gives us a check mark next to our names?
@Gargron My journey aboard Ivory is so pleasant that I’ve decided to support you on Patreon. Thanks
@Gargron in for a year, good work. This is better than I had anticipated.
@Gargron Any way to make a direct donation and avoid Patreon?
@Gargron some of us may not have enough resources to support both the main project and the instance we use. In this case, what should be the priority of our contribution?
@Gargron can I ask how many people you have full time?
@Gargron my advice: take someone with lots of commercial experience willing to take the paycut over someone with lots of FOSS bona fides that hasn't designed things that scaled internationally. you want a traitor who knows the ways of FAANG, IMHO 😈
