Improving PagerDuty’s Operational Resilience to Achieve our Long Term Vision and Goals

CEO Jennifer Tejada sent the following email to PagerDuty employees on January 24, 2023.

PagerDuty
@rodhilton @theothermatt_b I believe it would be less annoying if they only sent a number of how big the layoff is.
@nsabonyi @rodhilton @[email protected]
we got the power (x2)
what kind of power?
union power (x2)

@rodhilton @theothermatt_b

If "Jenn" wrote or signed off on that letter, she's a psychopath.

"We're laying off 7% of you, for no reason, because we're profitable for the last 2 years, but we've got to maximize shareholder value and increase our return on investments, so... no loyalty from us: you gotta go, bye! Also, everyone give Jeremy a big round of applause for his promotion, even you 7%'ers!"

Gross is an understatement.

Capitalism is gross, though.

@rodhilton @theothermatt_b I thought the PagerDuty layoff email/post had to be a parody or something written by a poorly trained large language model. Particularly with the rephrased MLK quote tacked on the end, in contrast to his support for the labour movement. Utterly gobsmacked. 😲
