Packing for #CactusCon with my recently acquired ham license. How do I pack all these electronics and cabling and make it through TSA? Hoping to make some contacts, do general hackery, see a good batch of friends in attendance, stuff my face full of good Mexican food, and maybe make it out to WFD or HRO while there. Looking forward to a smaller and friendlier con to start the year off.
@piffey FWIW I've never had any TSA problems with #hamradio gear. Of course YMMV and it may depend on what other electronic goodies you're packing.
@ColonelPanic Yeah for me it’s usually the cameras I’m convinced. All mechanical stuff from the 50s/60s confuses the youths behind the X-ray then a ton of cables running around, two laptops, some antenna and a SDR. I’d be suss.
@piffey I brought a partially finished homebrew kit in my carry on once, no problems with the TSA. But a jar of peanut butter, watch out. That's dangerous πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
