Since @oldbiddy requested, I am posted a few photos of #barns from here in New England ~

@KiKiPosting Good morning!
Massive buildings , I drive through farming communities in the summer, and some have been damaged and not repaired or replaced. The cost is so high, if not insured, I can't imagine building a new barn today?
@Rasta OMG, yes. It would be an outrageous cost! One of my favorite things to do is watch HGTV & see some of the shows where they come up here to NH & down in MA where they rebuild barns & old houses built anywhere from the 1600's to the early 1900's. It's amazing how well they can fix things up & it looks great & restored on the outside & the people can have up to date living on the inside without screwing up the integrity of the "old world" style.
@KiKiPosting My summer home, if I didn't mention, my first home, my retirement home (that I can't live in) is well over 100 years old. The Nails are square. It's survived dozens of hurricanes, recently losing just the vinyl siding in Fiona. The workmanship of that day was incredible. My second home, has those pressure treated tarboards for the outside. I nearly fell through one from the Attic. Modern building codes..
In the last few years, we watch those barns deteriorate and fall.
@Rasta That's sad. However you need a lot of money to restore homes like that & need special people who know what they are doing. You can't just have a regular contractor to do that. I mean they can....but they will just use regular methods & it will be restored to look modern...
@KiKiPosting Yes, exactly. Modern methods won't keep a barn up for 100 years. My home, when we bought it, was uninsulated. Nearly froze our first winter, but with very little money and a lot of stamina, we ripped out every wall, and insulated, had to re-wire, those old 2 strand waxy wires that squirrels like to chew.. were all on one fuse through the whole house. The walls upstairs were wall-papered with local newspaper from 1898. I took a photo of some.
@Rasta How cool is that?
@KiKiPosting It would have been "way kewler" if I had saved it sooner. Unfortunately, I moved closer to the city, and the home was vandalized many times over the years that it was vacant. The whole wall was able to be saved in 1980. And, I lost a #HABS pennant with signatures of the team in early 60s. I have another, both were worth $1000s on the auction block. I've yet to find an interested party .. 1964 #Hockey legends, #JeanBéliveau ;

@Rasta Oh that is a shame!
@KiKiPosting It's not my biggest disappointment. I'm not a hockey fan, or interested in sports. My father thought I might be, when he got the pennants and had the entire teams sign it for me. It was in a toybox until 1980, when I pinned one to the wall upstairs, in the room with the newsprint wallpaper. It was missing. The other one showed up, with 16 signatures, so that's pretty good. I'm more upset that someone was in my house, long enough to select it to steal
@Rasta That’s a shame, my friend. 😢
