Ivory is out! By far and away my favorite Mastodon app.

Before @ivory, Mastodon felt like a Twitter clone that I wasn’t really “getting”, bouncing between apps and not finding any that fit me.

With Ivory, Mastodon became not only a drop-in replacement for Twitter for me, but an upgrade that’s actually so much better than Twitter that I don’t think about it at all anymore.

I immediately subscribed to the highest Ivory plan. They deserve our support!

@marcoarment @ivory still misses things: edit, images covering the post window (not the tiny half ones), smaller profile avatar, reply and instant show reply… It will get better, I know.
@david @marcoarment @ivory btw edit is technically there. Tap the gear then tap delete and you have this
@robspodcastmug @marcoarment @ivory hmm, interesting. I wonder what would happen to the replies (if post has any), if one did that. 🤔
@david @marcoarment @ivory that I am not sure of…. @mark can you respond when you have time?
@david @marcoarment @ivory BTW this is how they implemented “edit” with Tweetbot too
@robspodcastmug @marcoarment @ivory right, but Twitter is different, because edits weren’t allowed. On Mastodon they are.
@david @robspodcastmug @marcoarment @ivory That's just how it worked in Tweetbot because Twitter had no edit feature (back then). We will build the ability to edit in the future.
@david @robspodcastmug @marcoarment Instance version dependent also. If 4.1 or greater, it can allow edits (admin decision). Instead of “Delete & Post” you’ll see “Edit Post” on an enabled instance. Anyone who engaged with the post prior to edit will receive notification that post has changed. Up to you to visit and view versions to decide if you want to maintain Boost or Fav (not sure about Bookmarks). This version of Ivory allows you to View Post Link(?) where you edit on instance.

@gikiski @robspodcastmug @marcoarment I run a 4.0.2 instance, I don’t see the setting to disable edits. Anyone running Mastodon would want to keep it up-to-date.

Yes, you can go edit on the web client, but for me that’s less than desirable.

@david Regarding Delete & Post, it acts as a new post. IIRC, the prior engagement gets lost.
@gikiski yeah, that’s no good. It will change, I am sure, when they implement that Mastodon capability. What is now is a left over from their Twitter client.
