Florida teachers told to remove books from classroom libraries or risk felony prosecution

Teachers in Manatee County, Florida, are being told to make their classroom libraries — and any other "unvetted" book — inaccessible to students, or risk felony prosecution. The new policy is part of an effort to comply with new laws and regulations championed by Governor Ron DeSantis (R). It is based on the premise, promoted by right-wing advocacy groups, that teachers and librarians are using books to "groom" students or indoctrinate them with leftist ideologies.

@juddlegum
Another loss of freedom for those in Florida. How could this man have been voted in? Why are simple freedoms like the choice of books to read etc being subject to prosecution ? That is dictatorship. Has he done anything about protecting children from predators on the internet or taking down porn sites on the internet? Maybe that's a too lucrative market.
@juddlegum I had been trying to use Fediverse as much as possible, but..., until that community note thing. No more buts, birdsite has been uninstalled, completely unacceptable behavior on their part.
