Much nonsense is being discussed about LLMs, attributing them characteristics they lack, including agency. I hope the hypnotic allure of these siren songs will pass soon, & we learn from the commotion of beliefs, suspicions & dread. Meanwhile, we must not lose focus on other more human concerns in academia: the hierarchisation and bureaucratisation that are suffocating the institution, the increasing male dominance underneath acceptable declarations of diversity and the monetisation of research.
