Egg prices are up 138%. We're calling BS on the excuses:

Avian flu? Avg flock size dropped 6% but no substantial drop in production.

Inflation? Cal-Maine's production costs were just 22% higher than in 2021.

Cal-Maine had a 10x increase in gross profits. This is price gouging.

I know that “anecdotes are not data”, but I found it interesting that the “family-owned pastured-chicken” brand of eggs I buy has not raised prices, and has remained available while big brands have leapfrogged their price, and had stock outs - at the same supermarkets. 🤔

The only difference is that every carton has an apology note that they’re having to cut fresh forage and bring it into the hen-barns - avian flu means not free-pasturing for now.🤷‍♀️
