I think I want a one-man crosscut saw, but they’re like $200 and I can’t justify that just to be able to clear ~one tree per year from trails
@evanm I've considered them too for bucking huge rounds, but my 14in battery powered chainsaw is easy to put into a backpack after windy or snowy days. Crosscutting a whole log by hand would be quite a workout. Clearing it from a trail needs two cuts at least.
@evanm if you're really down to suffer, just buck it with a back country chainsaw.
@bmdhacks I’m a little wary of going the power tool route. I have no experience with them, so would want to get some safety training. In Oakland, only public works staff can legally use them in parks, not sure how common that rule is.

@evanm maybe this? It's just the first one I found, seems like their brand name can be easily misread.

@bmdhacks oh wow, this looks perfect. Thank you!
@evanm doubles as a test for ADHD. If you can spend the 45 minutes it takes to cut a log with it, you have more patience than me. Or you just really like cutting logs.
@bmdhacks The immediate use case isn’t all that beefy, so I think this would do just fine.
@bmdhacks lol someone took care of this tree before the saw even arrived 🫥
