ok when i went to goodwill to buy my grolsch bottles (goodwill always has them, it's a steal compared to my local fermentation store) I ran into a guy who was also there to buy grolsch bottles, and I told him I was making wild-fermented soda and he seemed really weird about it? DESPITE BEING SOMEONE WHO FERMENTS STUFF??
I told him I have really good luck with wild ferments (I know how to clean a glass) and was making a ginger bug and he was like "oh hmmm, wild ferments are good until something you don't want ends up in there." Like, yes, thank you, basic facts I know, etc etc.
Idk it was weird. Are people into microbrewing weirdly snobby about people like me who just wild ferment random shit???
Idk what my skill level at ferments is, but I've encountered a lot of men who are into the same thing I am who've all been annoying to me lmao.
>flashing back to being like "huh ok, but I don't" when a guy who owned a ferment shop said "everyone gets mold on their sauerkraut--it's fine" (extremely suspect advice)
@wannaberiotgirl what color was the mold?
@wannaberiotgirl oh, lol, you were making a point about men acting like they know shit when they dont. To be clear, I dont know shit about krauts, I just molds are kind of cool, and was into bokashi as a hobby a while back
