In the next few days, I look forward to seeing how everyone's post-ShmooCon health is.

Not going to lie, I definitely am looking forward to some point in the future when we can all stop masking at events, etc. I don't know if that's going to be feasible with upper-room UV or dealt with via more intense air handling systems or what.

But, for now, here's hoping everyone stays safe. πŸ‘πŸ˜·πŸ‘

@deviantollam I'm lucky I've only had covid once so far. My partner has had it twice now and I had a friend who was eating off my fork and drank out of my glass who then tested positive. And I didn't catch it again luckily.

@deviantollam the one time i got covid was at a con, last September (2022). So we're not there yet.

Curiously I was the only one in my group to get it, other people I was in very close proximity to, including sharing hotel rooms and food, were fine. And I was masked at all times when in public areas (and FFP3 masks in the airport and on planes). So yeah, not sure where I picked it up but it really is a crapshoot still

@deviantollam I’d be okay with continued masking because even classic con crud sucks.

And being able to reduce risk for those with compromised immune systems makes events more accessible.

@deviantollam I seem to be feeling fine today despite having spent a lot of time unmasked in the hotel lobby. I'm hoping everyone else was as fortunate as me.
@deviantollam Far-UV seems to be the most likely candidate for whole-room disinfection, but it's still in its infancy and expensive. Upper-air UVC doesn't circulate efficiently enough to provide effective disinfection for the space below - which is the problem for most human-involved disinfection technologies. Nothing else will even start to clean the space between you and the infected person as they exhale and before you breathe in.
@deviantollam Almost looks like you are ALL IN. Test included.
