I'm not saying the electronics supply industry is having serious issues, but I just checked and the basic 200 ohm resistor I wanted has a 67 week lead time
@foone this makes me think of all the old random stuff that’s been thrown away that have tons of these components
@foone were those 200ohm resistors by chance a metal film type? If so, they may be a lithographically manufactured product.
@foone I always feel like when the lead time passes a year, the manufacturer should just stop pretending they still have plans to make it
@eep @foone If they're not going flat out making them, yeah. Sometimes they're just not able to keep up with a demand surge or whatever.
@AGTMADCAT @foone I don't know; I deal with this a lot these days and just don't buy a 60+ week lead time, particularly for passive parts. We're a couple of years into the latest parts meltdown, and no part of me thinks that any of these clowns have solid plans more than 2 quarters out, much less 5.
@foone can you chain 2x 100 ohm or similar combinations or are they also too hard to find?
@foone this is a certified Mouser Moment
@foone there is very much a reason I'm not moving full steam ahead on my hard to do electronics projects.
@websterleone @foone are you working on anything cool you can talk about? 🤩
@foone opening your junk box…
@foone Nothing wrong with the Just In Time model at all. You just didn't order it 63 weeks ago.
