@the_beebs A lot of modern "art" is just schlock made by hacks to sell to the wealthy who use it in order to avoid paying taxes.
But that's a whole other kettle of fish.
There's an artist on here - @spookylinedrawings - that I really like (I boost everything I see by them as well).
@spookylinedrawings @the_beebs I don't know. Is art intent, or is it nothing until it is given some kind of meaning by an audience? Or is it a combination of both?
Somebody else might see a Mondrian and say, "It's just coloured squares innit?" whereas I see ultimate abstraction that follows a history of artistic endeavor since the dawn of humanity.
I cannot truly define what IT is but I know it when I see it, which I can say with some confidence because it's all subjective anyway as far as appreciation goes.
I think there's some things to be done to mitigate the inherent evil of submitting oneself to the machine, and I am making an assumption here so please forgive me if I missed the mark by a wide margin. I don't monetize any of my content (nobody would pay for it anyhow), and, especially with my comedy I try to make it as ad-unfriendly as possible. The various platforms would be nothing without the content users produce. How else are we to reach a wider audience than we might by displaying our wares on a street corner?
Sorry for waffling on and on. It's been a long night and although I'm sleepy I don't want to go to bed yet.
