Waking up to see the horror that a terrorist has murdered 10 people and injured 10+ more in AAPI majority Monterey Park, CA where tens of thousands of Asian American families WERE gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The terrorist is still at large per media and police reports.

I’m outraged. 33 mass shootings & 2539 gun deaths just 22 days into 2023. I just don’t have the words. 😓

All these folks were doing was celebrating the new year. And they suffered terrorism and death. This is what GOP considers “freedom.” Smh horrific.

@Freedom2B Monterey Park is in So Cal. Seven hour drive to Las Vegas. A person from Monterey would likely drive to Tahoe. Or just obey California law.

@QasimRashid I remember a time when I would play with my friends in homes that had guns safely stored and those friends wouldn't sit down for a week if they went near them. Our society is nothing more than 'baby men and women' who are emotionally stunted and immature.

When I was a kid, my dad, who was a WW2 era vet, had a .45 Colt he owned for target shooting contests. I never knew he even had it until strict gun control laws passed in New York, circa 1969. He ended up selling his weapon.
A large number of gun owners stockpile arsenals to take up arms against the United States and twist the 2nd Amendment to justify it. Today's gun owners need to grow up and fast.

@JaneA @QasimRashid I’m an IL resident in a red county and can confirm. Our own police made an announcement on FB that they wouldn’t uphold and that it is unconstitutional. It’s a restriction on certain rifles and large magazines; we can still buy guns.

@QasimRashid it's what Republicans want. The gun lobby has convinced everyone that guns make you safer but the truth is the opposite. If you own a gun you are more likely to be shot and shot with your own gun.

The causes of #MassShootings are many, but I think the core problem is an unfair economy that #crushes us while the rich get richer. Life is very hard and some people go crazy. We should all have good jobs paying #livingwages. Instead there are 2 new #billionaires a day. #TaxTheRich #FairEconomy

It's horrifyingly commonplace. An everyday occurrence in modern America.

I learned all I needed to know about firearms as a ground pounder in Viet Nam fifty years ago. I'm in the minority of Americans who neither possess or carry a firearm.

People are mostly fearful, superstitious brutes, and a waste of an oversize brainpan.

The best thing about modern convenience, and mass communication over web, is that I seldom must see anyone except my wife and dog.

@QasimRashid The victims of the WTC attacks in 2011 cost 2977 people their lives. You'll reach that number in MSA deaths before end of January.

The former caused the U.S. to launch a mass attack at countries that eventually turned out to have nothing to do with it, devastating the lives of millions.

The latter is "governed by constitution, 2nd amendment!"

If people pretend that's not legit madness, they're just part of the madness themselves...

What benchmark is going to be hit first, 2 degrees average global warming or 2 mass shootings per day in the USA?

I don't expect any meaningful action to be taken to avoid these two fates.
