Every other comparable country has the same violent video games and movies we do. They have the same mental health struggles. They also deal with the same growing xenophobia and racism we do.

It’s not lack of Jesus either. We’re far more religious than our peers.

It’s the guns.

If you think we should interpret the words of 18th century farmers and merchants who couldn’t fathom a gun that could shoot more than three rounds a minute to mean we all have an unfettered, God-given right to own weapons of war, at least own it. Ditch the bullshit excuses.

Would love to see every state in the country put referendums on the ballot akin to the abortion referendums we’ve seen lately, mandating basic common sense gun-control measures. I think the outcomes would be just as surprising as the abortion votes were.

(1) make all guns legal for everyone
(2) don't restrict legal gun owners

(except for black people who are convicted at 3x the rate of whites in the war on drugs, take theirs)

@twwilliams @RobertMaguire Not that many states even have the citizen referendum. California does and we have propositions in every state election. This isn't ideal as our legislature should do what we ask but sometimes they vote for big business.

@RobertMaguire i've also never understood the insistence of following the words of people who existed centuries apart from us, & following them at all costs. They couldn't possibly know the world we know now and at the end of the day they aren't the ones who get to live in this world so they don't really get a say.
