A decade or so ago, I lived in a rural area of Tennessee where three rural hospitals collapsed and closed
The burden this puts on poor/middle class residents of the area. Being airlifted for cardiac, traffic, trauma cases that could've been triaged &many times treated at the local hospital went up, along with the expense to patients, Medicaid, insurers and Medicare
All the health care services that closed around the hospitals. Labs, radiology, etc
Cheaper to save them.
