The #laudêmio is kinda like a covenant on #RealProperty: it's an stipulation that whenever that piece of property is sold a certain percentage of the value of the sale must be paid to a third party.

In #Brazil, these third parties are usually the Navy, the Catholic Church, and, in Petrópolis, the descendants of the Brazilian royal family. 🤮
