I don't really post about Ukraine and haven't had anything go remotely viral recently. So there's something sketchy about randomly getting followed by three brand new accounts from one Ukranian instance, all of which have relatively few followers and are following 10,000 or more Mastodon users. Especially when clicking on each profile reveals an error message.

Maybe admins over there have already squashed the sketchy profiles? I don't know. Personally, I am blocking that entire domain for now.

@IntlLawGnome see @[email protected] 's post on this instance. It's a Ukrainian instance being overrun by Russian trolls. The powers for good are trying to help this new instance figure out social cybersecurity.

@LolaPoliticka
Thanks. I see @tchambers posted his observations shortly after I posted the above. (See his post link below.)

I will continue to block the domain on my end for a while, but I will revisit later, and I won't be suggesting any instances block it or anything like that.

#Admin #IndieWebSocial One note, we have seen some accounts here report harassment and spam from accounts on ua-fediland.de. We have not done a #Fediblock on the instance as others have direct word that this is a Ukraine instance acting in good faith but is overrun by pro-Russian bots and scammers taking advantage of the site, esp. during power blackouts. I and others have reached out to the admin to offer advice or help. We are silencing this server, not blocking and wish them well.

@IntlLawGnome @LolaPoliticka @tchambers Look at that. Mastodon is growing up so fast!
