Now that Twitter has killed off 3rd-party apps, those developers could do with your help. If you have active subscriptions, don’t ask Apple for refunds, because all of them happening at once would be a huge financial burden on the devs. If you can, send them a tip, or buy one of their other products instead. Yes, I’m telling you to buy CalcBot.
@jamesthomson if you’ve previously brought TweetBot 5, you can re-download / tip within that too fwiw
@tombuildsstuff @jamesthomson I have seen a bunch of people recommend tips & buying their apps. Pardon my ignorance, but isn’t Apple taking an unnecessary cut out of all of this? Wouldn’t it be better to give them directly, the way The Iconfactory has a patreon? Is there a benefit to letting the App Store handle payments in this case?
@preshit @tombuildsstuff Sure, if that’s available, that’s one way too. But the App Store is easiest for many.
@preshit @jamesthomson they don’t have a patreon at this time
@tombuildsstuff @jamesthomson Since @mark and @paul ignored my question for a PayPal address, I used that option a couple of times today.
@tombuildsstuff @jamesthomson thanks for the tip! Lunch sent.
@tombuildsstuff @jamesthomson thanks for sharing this. I bought CalcBot a long time ago but this worked great. I really wish I they'd just release @ivory with a less ambitious initial feature set and let me subscribe to that though. :)
@tombuildsstuff @jamesthomson I have Tweetbot 5 still but I can’t find that option. I can’t find “Settings” at all inside the app.
@tombuildsstuff @jamesthomson Ah, I found it! Because I had not used or signed in with the app for years (old version), it didn’t have my avatar, and the “Account” button in the top left was white, the same color as the background. It was there but invisible.
@tombuildsstuff @jamesthomson Thanks for the ‘tip’. I had left my subscription enabled, figuring I’d give them another few bucks on Feb 2 when it renews, then shut it down - but after digging around to unhide the previous version purchase, I’ve donated a couple of lunch tips.
@tombuildsstuff @jamesthomson As an aside, digging through my previously forgotten about hidden purchases was a weird trip around my digital garage (replace with basement or attic depending on your equivalent cultural term for ‘place where junk that should have been thrown out is stored’)
