I’m starting my own for-profit Mastodon instance. I’ll be serving up ads and selling data about you (three commas club here I come!), and I’m going to decide what you see, what the rules are (they may change!), and who can join (and be forewarned, I’ve been feeling a little alt-righty lately). Who’s in?!
@MissingThePt i'd make an account on that server
@MissingThePt it could pay out to users
@MissingThePt so close but I need some way to pay $8 for a meaningless badge
@MissingThePt Only if i can pay you 8 bux a month.

@MissingThePt

Do you promise to direct ads to me about anti-aging cream, funeral plans and over 50’s dating apps based purely on my age and gender?

@MissingThePt Only if you promise to also randomly and unexpectedly break shit as an example of your 5th-dimensional chess. ("When the moooooon, is in the seventh house...")
@MissingThePt can I pay 8$ to participate?
@MissingThePt I’ll only sign up if you first create a cult of bootlickers that will do anything to defend your absolutely dumbest opinions.

@MissingThePt If you play your cards right, you can have your very own AI farm

@MissingThePt @tchambers As Mastodon grows there is no doubt this will exist. Why will users sign up? Maybe there’s small kickbacks, coupons, or cell phone discounts. Maybe the site has free features (email? vpn?). Maybe the site is viewed as more trustworthy because it’s commercial. Maybe it’s easy to use (outlook.com and bing are in the Edge sidebar, use your outlook account for Mastodon).

I will never use DoorDash or Hulu, but lots of people do.

@MissingThePt Please could my account have a little icon to prove that I’ve paid you some money?
