Ron Gilbert (GrumpyGamer)I was excited to learn that @ivory is coming to Mastodon, then I remembered that Tapbots Twitter went to a subscription model. I refuse to use subscription software. I'm happy to pay for software. Subscription software is unethical unless the subscription is really needs (like Wow). Maybe Mastodon Tapbots will be different. I hope so. I liked it before I stopped use it.
Rob Pearce@grumpygamer @ivory I wonder what the impact on subscription software sales would be if the the full price was shown upfront in the form of (annual_subscription_cost * prospective_purchaser's_current_life_expectancy).
Like, Office365's "Only $13/month" doesn't sound so great when it's worded as "This word processor is a steal at the bargain price of just $5,773".
