@JessTheUnstill @shengokai And what I'm repeating is that the fedi is stuck in this recreation pattern and is not advancing but reacts with hostility when we try to have discussions outside of these paradigms.

What happens on the fedi is not benign evolution, especially when you look at how the fedi has attacked non-white instances over the years.

There is a culture here that fights against progress.

That is the biggest obstacle in the fedi, not different applications of technology.
@shengokai @Are0h @JessTheUnstill another hurdle that I have yet to see addressed is that ALL these decisions are currently being made by folx who can build coded environments. This means that, once again, technologists have the final word on what does and doesn’t get built because the rest of us have no fuckin clue how to begin activating the “if you don’t like it, then build your own” reply…so we have no TRUE agency, which means nothing, for us, changes
@KimCrayton1 @shengokai @JessTheUnstill Definitely. I've found most developers in the fedi are building software for themselves and their friends and not for actual people to use.

They don't want equity and culture. They want their own little fiefdoms they can lord over like their favorite tech idol.

If you can't build it directly you can always "advise, educate and mentor" people to build it for you.

Or raise funds to pay people to build the thing you want to see in the world.
