"You are helping by cycling when you can"
British WWII propaganda poster

Still true today

@JamesLonghurst @CoolBikeArt1 That reminds me too of how sabotaging can be about doing theses small acts of carelessness everyday to make a "powerful" country a powerless one. While your country is at war, dont forget to pile glass milk botles around the factories road, you'll save lives !

@JamesLonghurst @CoolBikeArt1

cats/kittens causing mischief for decades by knocking stuff over đŸ˜ș

@CoolBikeArt1 @CarFree I have a strong urge to make this a permanent part of the office decor
@CoolBikeArt1 I wish cycling weren't so damned dangerous, but in much of the US, you take your life in your hands every time to take a bicycle on a street where cars are also allowed.
@Lee_in_Iowa
Yes, I know what you mean.

@CoolBikeArt1 @Lee_in_Iowa solution: go mountain biking!

Caveat: may be problematic for commuting or errands, depending on your circumstances

@dingodog19 @Lee_in_Iowa
I love mountain biking for exactly this reason, though I hope one day the streets will be safer for everyone. I see that gravel bikes have become popular - on the one hand it's nice to get away from the roads, but on the other I think its popularity is in part due to the roads being just not safe enough for road riding anymore. Which, I think, is kind of sad.

@CoolBikeArt1

"When you ride ALONE you ride with Hitler!"

@CoolBikeArt1 Been true ever since, and even before 1940. The car age continues unabated, shaping our houses, cities, lands and lives, bringing many benefits but at unsustainable, devastating costs.
@CoolBikeArt1 the "when you can" part is ignored by so many people today when presented with requests to cycle.
@creek
Yes! This post is proving to be really popular, and I think what people like about the poster is that it's so un-sanctimonious.
@CoolBikeArt1 I definitely want this on my wall.
@CoolBikeArt1 Riding a bike is always a part of the solution. Driving a car is always part the problem.
@CoolBikeArt1 proudly walk/bike to work everyday! :)
