#Influenza A, which started circulating at high levels earlier this season than in any season since the 2009 #H1N1 pandemic, is declining as quickly as it climbed. It is truly remarkable to see the map of #flu-like activity show so little red in the 2nd week of Jan. It is like this year's flu season shifted forward 2 months or so.
Last week on the right. Same week in 2018, on the left, as the 2017-18 season started to take off.

@HelenBranswell People heeding warnings about how bad it was getting and taking more precautions? I still see about 1/3 of people in my local grocery store masking (including me). Maybe that helps?

@HelenBranswell it seemed SO early this year - and apparently it was! I k ew so many people who were so sick (most of who, I don’t think coincidentally, did not get their flu shot this year.) on that note I also wonder if the early flu season hit folks before they’d normally get their flu shot.
