Tonight I am going to share some of Dad's #Aviation photos. Dad served in the #Marines as an aviation mechanic and first started working on the beast of an attack plane the A-1 #Skyraider (more info in alt text, all photos circa mid/late 50s)

Dad's second assignment was to Marine #reconnaissance squadron VMCJ-1. VMCJ-1 flew 2 planes, the #Douglas F3D-2Q the electronic warfare variant of the all-weather night fighter F-3d #Skynight

VMCJ1 Also flew the #Grumman F9F-8P Photo-reconnaissance variant of the F9F #Cougar fighter aircraft. It was working on these that Dad developed an interest in cameras and photography.

Lastly I share a fun photo, aC-130 #Hercules performing a #JATO (jet assisted take off) . Small rockets were strapped to the airplane allowing it to take off in a very short distance. This was VERY loud.
