Mine was Avalon Hill's Starship Troopers - received as a gift for my ninth birthday in 1976.

Now, I was *aware* of wargames before this, mostly from having seen my friends' older siblings with them, but I didn't actually play any before I opened up my copy of Starship Troopers.
