What a foolish thing to say. Maybe oppression only feels like freedom to you because you're not the one bearing the brunt of it.

@sarahemclaugh It also assumes that this is unique to China. My daughter saw children much younger than 11 going to school on the train alone in Seoul. I saw the same in Singapore. Maybe a more authoritarian government than the US but nowhere close to China.
