got a low/mid end tablet for reading comics on. now looking for a decent protective case for it, and the only two categories seem to be "slim folio with decent styling, but leather, only leather, hope you like leather!" and "2cm thick built to withstand your toddler dropping this thing in a toilet with a live grenade".
@jplebreton Out of morbid curiosity, I just did some googling and apparently there's literally such a thing as explosion proof tablets.
@pervognsen gosh, you're right! https://www.ecom-ex.com/products/mobile-computing/tablets-android/ i guess it's for industries like demolitions where a standard piece of consumer electronics would just turn to peanut brittle in the shockwave of a nearby explosion?

@jplebreton Their front page says "explosion protection is a matter of trust" which devoid of context might be the understatement of the year.
@jplebreton Those cheap rubbery slim cases actually provide good protection. As long as there are soft corners and a 1mm lip on the screen side, that's gonna be good enough for most drops.
@jplebreton will it blend, but for toddler/grenade-proof tablet cases
@lysandraws now imagining a late nite infomercial (do those even still exist?) for the "un-blendable" tablet case
@jplebreton I desperately hope they do, somewhere other than YouTube nostalgia channels
