wow ok unfollowing now, I was a big fan of the original ship of theseus but had no idea it’s now… wait
@lolennui Thanks for the nice trip to Wikipedia to learn about the ship of theseus. 😭
@cswalker21 @lolennui HELLO THESEUS. WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
@drwho @cswalker21 @lolennui Meanwhile, I was having flashbacks to my philosophy elective during college.
@lolennui Oh no, has it started going on about the great replacement theory?

@lolennui

Wait until they bring up King Milinda's chariot...

"Enumerate the parts of the chariot as you may — and you still have no chariot."

@lolennui I used to ship Theseus and Heracles but then I learned about the Helen of Troy abduction and Heracles’ habit of blaming his family murders on his dad’s wife.
@lolennui I now know why I was given a terminating (don’t come back) pass in philosophy at University. Science students were forced to do some humanities to “civilise” them but all it did was make our heads hurt. Then again Shrödinger’s cat experiment puts any philosophical conundrum to shame. And don’t get me started on charmed quarks. #ShipOfTheseus
@frankcat actually I do want to get you started on quarks. I've always found the charmed ones to be a bit… strange
@lolennui please edit this post and replace each word one at a time

@lolennui There has got to be a hipster joke in here somewhere about a garage band called "Ship of Theseus" where over time they slowly replace all the band members.

Maybe a background joke in an indie movie, where you see them practicing in a neighbor's garage or something, and in each act, they've just replaced one of the band members.

@pseudonym @lolennui

Isn't that a Replacements cover band?

@lolennui

There is an actual 110 years old boat that is now restored where (almost) all of her major components have been replaced.

It's a very interesting project.

I’m on a mission to rebuild a 1910 English sailing yacht called Tally Ho. Designed by Albert Strange in 1909, she is a well-known and important historic vessel – but after many adventures she was left in a remote port in Oregon to rot for decades, despite some valiant attempts to rescue her. I bought her and moved her to the Olympic Peninsular earlier this year, and am now rebuilding her from the keel up. Eventually I hope to sail her back to the UK.

@lolennui Yeah, it's really changed. I'm not even sure if it's the same ship anymore. :/
