Yesterday I attended informative webinar by Times Higher Education, presenting methodological changes in THE World Universities Ranking.

THE will replace Scopus FWCI citation impact indicator by three new citation-based indicators called research strength, research excellence and research influence.

It's not entirely clear to me why THE needs three citation-based indicators instead of just one. Also not clear to what extent the new indicators are based on insights from bibliometric literature.

@stevenhill Yes, empirically I expect they will be correlated quite strongly, and conceptually the difference between the two indicators is also not really clear to me.
