We need more (#Scifi?) #TVShows that tackle adult subject matter, but with optimism and a (grown-up) sense of humor.

Too many shows think adult subject matter requires pessimism, darkness, fatalism, constant pressure of angst and shocking violence.

Or they think that humor can be substituted with slapstick and embarrassment.

@uliwitness I forget but think you had #Farscape listed in your interests, which fits ofc. I think I only remember a Forever Knight mention I think was you, asking about a single show off a list of many, as that post is not pinned (you can have 5 pinned).

#TotalRecall2070 is unfortunately the likeliest future scenario we're headed toward of scifi shows. Dystopian, corporation owned, "Environmental calamities of the 2020s" darkness.

But it did have its moments of humour as well. Plus #androids.

@ElysiaMacht Loved 2070. Such a weird mystery show. Almost Human a few years ago reminded me a bit of it. From today's POV, 2070 actually feels like a less gory prototype for Westworld, in some ways. And the actor who played Hume made some smart decisions in playing the character.

And yeah, Farscape and Forever Knight are definitely ones I loved as well.

@uliwitness I saw most of Almost Human, and predictably enough liked the android lead over any humans. So much so I only remember Karl Urban from it even remotely otherwise.

Dorian, I think, for our intrepid android lead there? But they never continue "my" shows with androids.

Westworld is inaccessible to me.

Any particular scenes or situations or such to give me an idea what you have in mind re: Hume decisions?

I prefer Farve's quiet (or at times subversive?) humour tho, ofc. ;)

@ElysiaMacht Oh sorry, I meant Farve. Android-guy. It's been a few years since I saw it 😅

I pinned the post just now, thanks for suggesting that, I didn't even think of doing that with this post.

Heh, they were definitely the standouts. Though I loved some of the supporting cast. Det. Stahl was fun (especially when we learned about the world through her gene-enhanced background), Rudy (Nerd guy) was fun, Captain Maldonado's kind scheming was intriguing ... that show had a lot going for it.

@ElysiaMacht Oh, and if you're into androids (gynoids?), have you seen Mann & Machine? It's basically a proto-Almost-Human. Got canned after its first 6-episode season, and is REALLY silly in places, but there's a great core in that show.

@uliwitness #IanFarve, played by #KarlPruner, who was lovely enough to follow me back sometime early on when he was still at all even remotely active on Twtr.

I don't think that much was ever said between us tho since I had the usual "An actor who played 1 of your favourite characters followed you, everybody behave!" responses first off at least but he seemed very active in work with unions or such as I recall.

Something with Actra I think.

Fun in #TheRecruit with Pacino, 2.
