Converting from gas to an electric induction stove? Here are some tips and tricks

A chef, a cooking enthusiast, and an electrician give advice on what to consider if you're switching from gas to electric induction cooking.

Thank you, conservative hysterics, for drawing my attention to the home safety benefits of replacing gas ovens with induction ones.

If it weren’t for your bleating to retain gas stoves, I would never have known - from subsequent reporting - they increase children’s asthma risk.

@vanbadham I actually am glad that more is being said about gas ovens and heaters as a friend was breathing in fumes from a bad and leaking system and then started getting ill every time there was any methane in the environment wherever we went. He was in agony until he had the gas company turn off the system and the bad valves were no longer leaking fumes all over his apartment. Then his body calmed down and he stopped being so ill. He now uses electric burners to cook on and electric heaters.
@vanbadham He went to various physicians and to an allergist who could not find what he was reacting to. Having his heating and cooling systems checked after finding out that he was having an allergic reaction whenever there was methane in outdoor environments in Lakewood etc. and getting the system turned off was fantastic.
It was hard to watch him suffer and not be able to do anything for him. Would we have used masks then of course they would have helped too.
@vanbadham All well and good unless you finally replaced your shitty hob cooktop with a very expensive gas range (oven is electric) four years ago.
My sisters delightful induction cooktop turns itself off if there is the faintest spill, or if it’s on for too long. You also can’t lift the saucepan/frypan up to regulate heat which makes cooking a French omelette impossible.
