Every 2 weeks, I set up a stool in the kitchen to give my son a haircut. Today before I really got started, he had his eyes closed and was smiling softly to himself. As I combed out his curls, I ask why he is smiling. He said it's because he just likes it when I do his hair. 😍

"Can you put a design in my hair, mommy?"

"Sure, what do you want?"

"I want a heart for love."

"Of course, kiddo."

@drmomo when my now 20-year-old son was younger I cut his hair all the time. He’s Black and I’m white so he wanted fades and things that I had no experience with. So it was a journey for us. But it was a time for bonding, learning, and being playful in the same way you are with your son.

I really appreciated that time with him. And it’s something that even comes up in conversation.

Thanks for sharing your delightful story.
