I always get the itch to revisit #AnimalCrossing this time of year (thanks 2020) but instead I picked up Cozy Grove. This game respects the heck out of my time and I love the concept of being a scout that just helps ghosts with their otherworldly woes. Highly recommend if you’re looking for some #cozygaming and light haunted campground/ghost management.

@Beastmojames Thanks for the reccomendation, this looks really cute! The steam page says that like animal crossing, this one runs in real time; does it use guilt mechanics (like in AC where villagers get mad, move away, and your town gets trashy) if you don’t play?

That has always made me uncomfortable about AC and is why I don’t really play them.

@Haste @Beastmojames to answer all your questions: no the ghosts do not get mad at you for not doing stuff for them or in a timeframe. The tasks will always be there for you. The game really respects your time and if you leave for a while, it doesn’t affect anything in game. Sometimes there are limited time events for certain holidays but that’s not going to affect gameplay and events come back every year.
@mishified @Beastmojames Most excellent! That was the one thing holding me back. I’m gonna try it :) thanks fam
@mishified @Haste yup that covers it!! I didn’t realize how bummed out upsetting my AC villagers made me until I met all these ghost bears, haha. It’s been so refreshing.

@Haste @Beastmojames I’m so glad other people feel this way about real-time decay in games. This has always bothered me, but most people I mention it to don’t seem to have a problem with it.

1) It feels very manipulative.
2) Real life has enough ticking clocks and missed opportunities. I don’t need them in my relaxing activities.

Also good to hear this game doesn’t do that.

@Beastmojames I absolutely adore this game. I find it even better than ACNH because at least I can feel for the characters in Cozy Grove and the management system is good. The time per play session is pretty quick considering the wait time on certain objectives is a few hours to a whole day. Also the art is simple (Don’t Starve art design) and music is chill.
@Beastmojames this game looks so cute! I was considering buying it, maybe I'll finally do it!
@Beastmojames such a good game! I need to jump back into it.
@Beastmojames Yes! I like the way it treats resources and material things, too. The capitalist framework of Animal Crossing where you're always trying to pay off your loans and buy more stuff is something I find off-putting about that game, and Cozy Grove doesn't really have that.
