Non-violent direct action has been a defining contribution to the success of movements to better society, including the suffragettes, civil rights and the environment.

The RSPB’s very founders were three women who used protest to raise awareness and stop exotic birds being killed for the fashion industry. We support peaceful, non-violent action and are extremely concerned by the UK Government’s attempts to limit this fundamental right through the Public Order Bill

@RSPBEngland When you've got the RSPB saying this is wrong, you KNOW it's wrong.
@RSPBEngland the suffragettes weren't non-violent

@RSPBEngland

The suffragettes, the civil rights movement, and the environmental movement all used/use a diversity of tactics.

Please don't fetishise nonviolent direct action. It is not the be-all and end-all.

@RSPBEngland We all should be concerned, we have to get rid of these bastards

Between 1912 and 1914 suffragettes were involved in a bombing and arson campaign. Hardly non violent even though their cause was just.
