I was thinking about Natasha Pulley's book, The Kingdoms, and how great it would be to reread it, not knowing what would happen.

@tlau Ah, that was one that I wanted to love but didn't really. The characters weren't overly likeable or clear to me and there was very little sense of place, which disappointed me.
@EllenInEdmonton I agree the characters are (intentionally) awful. I guess the limited sense of place comes from the situation of narrator, but I can see how that might confuzzle
@tlau I read a lot of books based in Asia, and I always want to come away feeling that I got to know a new place, a little bit. Not at all with this book, sadly.
