As I explained on MSNBC to Mehdi Hassan, Merrick Garland’s failure to charge Donald Trump over two years after his attempted coup and Jan 6 terrorist attack is sending a message to our fellow Americans that what Trump did was not that serious. @DeanObeidallah I have to believe that the Biden administration is happy with Garland's performance, which means they don't intend to charge Trump ever.

Idk if this is to keep trump in the election to sabotage DeSantis or if they're afraid that arresting trump will create a red wave, but my gut says that the decision goes beyond Garland (even though it's not supposed to.)

@DeanObeidallah I feel like you don’t need “akin to treason” in that description. It’s treason. Traitors aren’t Dirk Dastardly twirling his mustache and laughing maniacally solely to be evil. They’re people who either think they’re in the right, or, in Trump’s case, people who seek power for power’s sake. Taking action against your own country is treason. Yes, it’s time to charge him.

Don't be ridiculous. Garland is making sure that the evidence is so cast-iron and water tight that Trump, even with his corrupt lawyers, will not be able to wriggle out of the charges. It takes time, but it is time well spent. Get a grip. Over-Impatience is silly and counter-productive.

@DeanObeidallah I’m waiting for the proud boys to be convicted to get upset at Garland. Trump has a circle of loyalists that are providing exculpatory testimony. Charging him without convicting him is going to hurt this country.
