Whiskey a Go Go, one of the most important and well-known clubs, opened its doors for the first time on January 16, 1964. The club was also the launch pad and starting point for many punk rock bands.

@historyofpunkrock I was at that Oingo Boingo / Suburban Lawns show (on the Whisky marquee)! I think it's actually from October 3, 1980 -- the Suburban Lawns didn't open the August show.
