Every time I post objective info about #COVID19, some idiot responds with a variation of “What do you expect us to do, isolate forever?” or “Do you expect society to shut down?”

Black-or-white strawmen arguments drive me crazy. There is a world of things we can do between “pretend COVID doesn't exist” and “lock ourselves away forever.” In fact, if we did those things--safe air in public places, masks & behavior changes when COVID surges--we could control COVID & save the health of millions.

@augieray Aren’t experts saying many of the things we did early on like masks and 6 feet apart really did not do much?
@tannermireault No. The six-feet thing was a myth (but not completely unhelpful, as it decreased infections by droplets and reduced density of crowds). But masks work. And so does avoiding crowds during surges. We all watch the weather forecast to see if we need to take an umbrella, so why don't we watch the COVID forecast to make better decisions about protecting ourselves and those we love?
@augieray That makes sense, hopefully those methods don’t take an overreaching law for track and trace by the gov like the Patriot Act.
