TheNurseIsInUgh. Family member is in the hospital post op back surgery with POUR and cathed twice. The pain he's experiencing is extreme, and we all know the vicious cycle between opioids and bladders. Sigh.
Nurse Mich@TheNurseIsIn in my PACU days I used to get into pissing matches with residents who wouldn’t even consider Valium or some other med to relax the spasmodic pain unrelieved by opioids. wasn’t an option for all patients but for those in the yes category it worked like a damn charm and I so appreciated the surgical attendings who ordered this helping the patients void easier. Sending healing vibes to your family member. What a rough go of it 😭
