Republicans have nothing of substance to talk about, so they're pretending that President Biden is going to break down your door and haul away your gas stove. Maybe he's hooking up a trailer to his Corvette?

Look at all of these states that have made sure that individual cities can't pass climate-friendly legislation to prevent gas stoves in new construction. Not taking anything away – if you want to move into an apartment with a gas range, you pick an apartment built before 2019 or 2027.

(The graphic is from 2022. Only the states that are red on this map have passed laws preventing gas bans. Michigan's legislation didn't pass and former Pennsylvania Gov. Wolf vetoed that state's bill.)

I like gas cooking too. I shrugged when I found the right condo and it was electric, not gas. Now that I've learned about the climate and health issues of gas, I'm glad I have electric.

Will There Be a Gas Stove Ban? Here's What to Know

Research shows that natural gas stoves produce dangerous levels of air pollutants.

@MariaHill

As a super liberal who is surrounded by super liberals, not one time has anyone ever identified gas stoves as our next hill to do battle.
We’re all still caught up with disenfranchised voters and the right to our bodily privacy etc.

@MJ @MariaHill We can do more than one thing at a time. Go induction if there is any reason to replace your stove/hob. Safer, more energy efficient, no indoor pollution, more nuanced than gas, easier cleaning. Anything else is as primitive as a coal fireplace in your livingroom. Worse, as gas stoves are not vented, and traditional electric is grim. Induction! Marvelous. Modern in all the best ways.
