@zedcallisto Not exactly the same, but kinda reminds me of In The Face Of My Enemy by Joseph H. Delaney. The character isn't actually an alien, but has an encounter with aliens that makes him immortal, and he spends several centuries doing a lot of those things. However, the story only briefly mentions that bit; it takes place several centuries in the future.
